Season's Greetings
An In-Print Shout-Out of Sorts; Will Fame and Fortune Follow?
EVERY SATURDAY, the Inquirer takes one or more posts from its Blinq blog and runs it/them in the paper. This week sees the publication of Dan Rubin's Tuesday Wednesday post on various Phillies bloggers' takes on the start of spring training -- and what we were blathering about during the long, not-so-cold winter. Lo and behold, Dan leads his piece with some musings from yours truly on movies and the Philadelphia Auto Show -- but, uh, lists my little site as "Shallow Season." I had meant to e-mail him earlier in the week when the online piece appeared, but just never got around to it. What is it they say about there being no such thing as bad publicity, so long as they spell your name right?
Coincidentally, I got together with several of the Phloggers cited by Dan -- Beerleaguer's Jason Weitzel, Swing and a Miss's Tom Goodman, Balls, Sticks, & Stuff's Tom Goyne, and Caught Looking's gr -- for a couple of pints of Guinness last night. The discussion was grand and wide-ranging: speculation on the real lives of our more elusive commenters, banter about how the Phillies' lineup should look, debate on who will win the division. It was terrific, an in-person version of the smart, sharp dialogue that happens on our sites daily. And no one called me by the wrong name.

Am wearing long furry jackass ears for the day in repentance.

No hard feelings, Dan -- don't worry about it.

we should look into doing a cable access show. our viewership would be at least 5, thanks to tivo.

You could just use the "Hawk Talk" set when they're done with it every week.

Whose basement is best for the cable access show?

Don't you people read the Inquirer...there is no public access in Philadelphia. Come on now!!

we all live in the suburbs anyway (and some of us in suburbs of other cities). there's a big 3 stations in the outskirts.

By the way, I frequently blog about the Phillies but do I ever get an invite to Phloggers outings? NOOOO! BOOOO!!!
Posted by: Bill | Tuesday, February 21, 2006 at 05:11 PM
I went to the first outing, Bill, and it looks like my license has been revoked.

Tom,
Don't feel so bad, Rubin doesn't even seem to know my site exists. Sorry I missed the bloggers outing, maybe next time

Brian: Don't fret about Rubin's oversight. Everyone else who cares about the Phils is devoted to your site.

I was happy to see you guys in there. I wasn't hurt that I wasn't included. For me it's not about the fame, fortune, and girls that come along with blogging.(ok, maybe the girls) I do it for the love of the game.
You guys do good work, keep it up.

enrico, if it were about the girls, i'd have hung myself by now -- hanging out in the suburbs with a bunch of married guys. not the best way to go for that purpoise.
