The First Schmitter Since Last Season Rekindles the Desire for Opening Day
THE RUSSIAN DRESSING combined with the melted cheese and dripped down my fingers in a way that just doesn't happen at Citizens Bank Park. Schmitters at the ballpark are delicious, but lunch today was at McNally's Tavern, the sandwich's home, and the experience was transcendent. Piping hot and crafted with love, unlike the good-but-lukewarm sammies slapped together by the high school kids at CBP, my Schmitter this afternoon did more to get me in the mood for baseball season than the World Baseball Classic, Barry Bonds's steroid problem, and the Phillies' suspect starting rotation combined. Is it Opening Day yet?

I almost said on the ride back "who do you think will blog about it first?" You clearly won.
That was my first Schmitter, and damn, was that a fine sandwich.

Did the cardiologist ride home with you guys?!? By the way, I have officially picked the Phillies to win the NL East on my blog. Go there and bash the hell out of me...I can take it!

Glad to hear you're back to watching your diet after your/our several days of indulgence down here.

Bill, you're kidding, right? Have you been drinking the delicious pale ales Chris linked to?

Why not...I listed my reasons at my blog. If Utley and Howard continue to shine and the other guys do what they should do then why not? WHY NOT US!

I love those Schmitters!! Can't wait to get down to the park and eat one.
Maybe one day I can go into the city and visit the home of the Schmitter and get one there!
Our hitters are looking good, I'm getting optimistic!

I can't find McNally's. I've tried to go there for lunch to and can never find it....what is it situated in between?

It's not the hitters I'm worried about ...
TG, McNally's is just to the left of the Hill Tavern, across the street from Borders. Its only marking is a small rectangular plaque on the door. Let's plan on having a sandwich there soon!
