The Phillies Pick Up Where They Left Off
Okay, let's review: The closer pitches a cover-your-eyes ninth, entering when the game is tied and leaving it down by a run. The team manages to rally and load the bases in the bottom of the inning, only to go down without scoring. And the Phillies lose by a run. I know, I know a sample size of two is way too tiny to develop any kind of trend analysis. And I know, I know, this looks like a typical Philly fan ready to start throwing batteries at the first sign of trouble. But, man, these two games have been so eerily similar to the last three seasons of underachievement that it's downright depressing.
I'll be at CBP today for the first two thirds or so of the series ender against the Cards. It'll be good to see a real game with my own eyes again. I just hope a real team shows up in red pinstripes.
